Happy Children, Snowmen and Angels

It's been such a long while since I have posted an antique card or old image of any sort.  I hope to make up for it in part today by posting several old Christmas cards and plan to put new graphics up for all of you who love them as I do.  I have missed the sweet comments and some of you, I almost feel as if I know personally.
I appreciate all of you who take the time to read what I write and look at what I have posted for you.  I want you to feel free to use them in any way you would like.  There are no terms of use and I do hope they will become part of an art or craft project.
Christmas is happy children, snowmen, angels ... I will be using all in future postings.
(Oh, and we mustn't forget the jolly old elf himself, Santa!)

sweet baby Christmas card, about 1925 or 1926, I believe

old Christmas card with child and toys, quite different from the toys of today
little girl praying while Santa quietly watches and sweet little bedtime friends wait on her pillow
children caroling while angels look at a single angel lounging on a crescent moon, beautiful
I just know you will use these in some gorgeous project you already have in mind, waiting for the perfect image to come along.  Enjoy them and share them.  They are not ours to keep but to be enjoyed by all.
Be sweet!!

4 Old Valentines

Thought I better get these posted before Valentine's Day!  I had surgery Wednesday and am better, but will have much more to be done and probably take most of the year to complete and not sure if they can fix some things ... that's okay if they can't!  I am grateful to be here and grateful for the many blessings in my life.  Still can't get over the fact that I am a great grandma!  I love it and feel SO lucky!!  Many never have the pleasure of even one, and here I am with 5 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN!!!  Don't know what I've done to deserve my good fortune, but this I know ... those little angels are my heart, they have caused a light in my world that nothing can extinguish, how grateful I am and how very much I love them!  I hope I can make them all valentines.  It may not mean much now, but in 30 years they will (I hope) treasure the handmade cards from their great grandma ...
May love, peace and joy fill your day and ... be sweet!!  XXOOX

More Old Valentines For You

Just a few more of the gorgeous old valentine cards for you.  They are just too cute and, though not exactly like those of today, they have a quality about them that I don't find in today's valentine cards. Somehow, they seem to convey the childhood innocence of little ones.  I remember how we laughed and compared, showing our valentines to all our friends.  We were so proud and they were absolute treasures to us!!  I could hardly wait to show mine to my grandmas.  Being grandmas, they acted every bit as excited as I did!!  Isn't it funny?  I do the same thing today.  You are free to use them as you wish or right click to bring up original size, print on cardstock and, voila ... your own set of old valentines.  I have found it works much better to use an ivory or something lightly sepia in a cardstock to bring out the "old" quality in them or take them to you digital imaging program to change the colors slightly if you would like.  Anyway I hope you like them as much as I do.
Be sweet and remember to always treat others as you would like to be treated.

An Assortment of Vintage Images

Does anybody remember a washing machine like this?

Dear friends, I have here quite an assortment of free vintage images!  I usually try to share images with similiar qualities, but, as you see, I don't always succeed!
I do believe my favorite is the vintage wringer washing machine.  My mom washed clothes in a wringer machine, but it was totally different from this picture.  It was sparkling white and I remember we had two large square galvanized tubs that we used to rinse the clothes in.  They required two rinsings to be certain of removing the harsh compounds that were used in those days.
Oh, what wonderful memories come rising up as I think of 'wash day'!  It was usually an all day event.  Mama used the cleanest rinse water to then mop the kitchen floor and last of all, the board floor of our screened in back porch.
I always helped her hang the wash on the clothes lines in the back yard (a clothes line graced every yard I knew of).  My dad had strung them as tightly as possible and it was fun to slide the cloth clothespin bag along the line with a clothespin in my mouth, ready to pin the next garment to hang silently in the sun or blow in the wind.  Windy days were good 'wash days' as the towels were much softer when whipped about on a soft breeze, fluffing the nap.
Goodness, I could go on forever, but I do hope thes images please you, that you can use them in some way.
Be sweet and always treat others as you would like to be treated.
