1901 Images From "A Flower Book"

Snowdrop
Christmas Rose

Winter Jasmine

The artist who created these sweet images is Nellie Benson.  They were published in "A Flower Book" in 1901.
I love the sweetness and innocence of the little girls and the beauty of the flowers.  They are the perfect size for a note card or a card front.  They are beautiful just as they are and would be so pretty in nostalgic frames strung in a group, one below the other.
However you decide to use them, I know they will enhance any craft or art.  I have yet to use them in any way except to look at and enjoy, but, with the holidays fast approaching I just know they will turn up on something.
Have fun and enjoy them!
Be sweet!!!!

Vintage Cigarette Ads

These old cigarette ads are funny and yet, not!  These were back in the day when the dangers of cigarette smoking was not well known and it was considered "hip" and "cool" to smoke.  Teenagers began to smoke in those days almost as soon as they were old enough to sneak a cigarette or two out of mom or dad's pack!
Just look at former President Ronald Reagan, with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, surrounded by cartons of "the beautiful Christmas-card carton" of Chesterfields!  I believe his family today would be mortified to see these old ads. Many celebrities of the day associated themselves with the advertising of cigarettes, allowing their pictures on packs, in ads.
Notice the price of the black and white 1916 ad, ten cents for a pack ... that would be $1.00 a carton!!
Enjoy, free to use as you please and, above all, be sweet!

Easter Presents!!!

Two free images for today, Easter!!  One, a young lady sitting gracefully on a flower covered swing and the other, an image of a child dressed in Easter finery, clutching a bouquet of flowers, standing proudly by a giant egg tied with a lovely blue ribbon.
These are beautiful images that would be right at home with any of our crafty projects, just click on the image to open in new window, then right click and "save as" to a folder on your computer.
I would love to see any projects you have and  to post them here for everyone to enjoy.
Happy Easter, have fun and be sweet!!!
